Have you ever caught yourself living small—not because you wanted to, but because somewhere along the way, you started believing that’s all you were allowed to do?
You shrink your dreams to be more “practical.”
You water down your opinions to avoid making waves.
You stop trying new things because “someone your age” shouldn’t need to prove herself.
But deep down, you know this isn’t the life you were created for.
Not long ago, I had a moment that made me reflect on just how easily we can go from vibrant, joy-filled women… to ones just going through the motions.
I was standing in front of the mirror getting ready for the day—hair half-done, tea in hand, a to-do list already overwhelming me—and I caught myself thinking, “I just don’t feel like me anymore.”
It wasn’t about appearance. It was about presence. I had become so good at performing, serving, and managing everyone else’s needs that somewhere along the way, I forgot how to take up space in my own life.
And I don’t think I’m the only one.
For so many midlife women, confidence isn’t about heels and lipstick anymore. It’s about remembering who we are, after years of letting our identity be shaped by roles, responsibilities, and routines.
We’ve been the helper, the fixer, the caregiver, the peacemaker.
And sometimes, we’ve worn those hats so well that we’ve forgotten how to be us.
You may not even realize how often the voice in your head whispers:
“Don’t draw attention to yourself.”
“You’re too old to start now.”
“Who do you think you are?”
“Stay in your lane.”
But here’s the truth: God never told you to live small.
That voice? It’s not His.
In fact, the Bible says:
"For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." (Ephesians 2:10, NLT)
Masterpieces don't shrink.
They shine.
Somewhere along the way, we confused humility with invisibility.
But humility doesn’t mean denying your gifts.
It means using them for something greater than yourself.
If you’ve been sitting on dreams, gifts, or ideas because you don’t want to seem like you’re “too much,” I want you to hear this clearly:
You’re not too much. You’re just enough for what you were made for.
Whether it’s starting a new business, sharing your story, leading others, or simply showing up fully in your own life—you were made to take up space.
To walk confidently in the shoes God designed for you, even if they feel a little too big right now. (Growth will take care of that.)
Let’s talk about real confidence.
The kind that doesn’t depend on good lighting, a flawless day, or a number on the scale.
Confidence isn’t about how you look. It’s about how you live.
When your confidence is rooted in truth—not trends—you start showing up differently:
You speak without apologizing for existing.
You move toward your goals without waiting for permission.
You make decisions from peace, not pressure.
That’s the shift. And it doesn’t happen all at once—but it starts the moment you decide to stop living like you’re optional.
You've lived enough life to know what matters. You've walked through enough hard seasons to know what you stand for. And you've still got enough time to make this next season the most meaningful one yet.
But it starts with permission—your own.
You don't need anyone else to tell you it's okay to take the class, try the thing, wear the bold lipstick, launch the podcast, or leave what's no longer serving you.
God already gave you permission. He called you "chosen."
Now it's your turn to believe Him.
You don't need to do this alone.
