how to finish strong in 2025

The Secret to Finishing What You Started - Even in the Mess

July 30, 20255 min read

Let’s be real: starting something new is exciting. You make a fresh plan. You clear your calendar. You feel the momentum.

But somewhere between “This is my year” and “Is it December already?”… that momentum fades.

Life gets messy. You get tired. The thing you said you’d do? It just keeps slipping to the bottom of the list.

So what do you do when you’re not at the start line anymore — but you’re definitely not at the finish either?

You keep going.

You finish anyway.

This is Part 3 of our midyear blog series on rediscovering your purpose, showing up with intention, and building real momentum again — not with hustle, but with heart.

➡️ If you missed Part 1, where we paused to reflect on your 2025 goals and asked what’s still worth finishing, you can read that here.

➡️ And if you need to revisit Part 2, where we talked about why it’s been hard to start and how to take that first micro-step forward, click here.

But today? We’re diving into the part no one talks about enough: The middle.

The messy, unglamorous, what-was-I-thinking middle.

And we’re talking about 4 powerful ways to get through it — so you can cross the finish line with peace, purpose, and a whole lot of holy grit.

Step 1: Break It Down

The middle feels overwhelming because the finish line still looks far away. You’re not sure how to get from here to there, so your brain convinces you to delay.

But finishing isn’t about giant leaps. It’s about tiny steps you take over and over.

  • Don’t try to write the whole thing. Just write 200 words.

  • Don’t worry about launching the business. Just brainstorm 3 ideas.

  • Don’t overhaul your health. Just fill your water bottle and walk the block.

Momentum builds when your steps are small enough to actually take.

Step 2: Build a Rhythm, Not a Rigid Plan

Plans are great… until life throws a wrench.

Rhythms, on the other hand, give you flexibility.

Maybe your rhythm looks like:

  • 20 quiet minutes with the Lord and your project before the house wakes up

  • Saturday morning creative time

  • Blocking 30-minute “focus” windows during your best energy hours

This isn’t about being perfect. It’s about creating a hum of steady progress that fits your season.

Step 3: Don’t Isolate

Here’s something I’ve learned: When the middle gets hard, your brain tells you to hide. But isolation is where dreams go to die.

You need one or two people in your corner — not just cheerleaders, but people who will:

  • Nudge you when you want to stall

  • Speak truth when you’re second-guessing everything

  • Remind you why you started

I’ll never forget when I ran a half marathon and hit the wall at mile 13. My legs were cramping. I was crying. I didn’t think I could finish.

But then Jonathan — who had already crossed the finish line — came back. He brought my dad with him. They each took an arm… and they walked me across that finish line.

That’s what support looks like. We don’t need more cheerleaders. We need arm-holders.

Step 4: Celebrate the Obedience, Not Just the Outcome

Finished doesn’t have to mean fancy. It doesn’t have to mean polished.

It means you stayed faithful.

God isn’t asking for perfection. He’s asking for your “yes”.

You don’t have to go viral. You don’t need a perfect brand or a million followers.

You just need to be obedient with what He’s asked you to carry.

I spent two years preparing to launch “Making Life Beautiful Again.” I built outlines and spreadsheets and brand boards… but at the end of all that time?

No blog. No livestreams. Just a lot of guilt.

But eventually, I realized I wasn’t creating a business — I was stewarding a purpose.

And the moment I started showing up — imperfect, unpolished, still figuring it out — the momentum came.

Every message I get from one of you saying, “This helped me so much” — that’s the fuel. That’s the win.

So whether it’s been weeks, months, or years… Whether you’ve doubted, delayed, or felt discouraged…

If God asked you to do it? It’s time to finish.

But because what you’re building matters.
